Taiwan Import Tariff Formula
Duty = Dutiable value × Duty rate
VAT = (Dutiable value + Duty + Harbor service fee) × 5%
Total tax payable = Duty + VAT + Harbor service fee + Trade promotion service fee
Common Taiwan Tariff Rate Ranges
- Raw materials / semi-finished goods: 0–5%
- Machinery and equipment: 0–7.5%
- Electronics: 0–5% (mostly duty-free)
- Consumer goods (textiles, apparel, appliances): 5–15%
- Food and agricultural products: 10–30% (some high-tariff items can exceed 50%)
FTA Preferential Tariffs
Goods of Chinese origin may qualify under ECFA (the Early Harvest List covers 539 Taiwan-export items and about 800 China-export items at preferential rates). Other available FTAs: New Zealand, Singapore, Paraguay, El Salvador, Honduras, and more.
Note: This tool is for reference only. Actual duties are determined by customs assessment; incorrect HS classification can result in significant rate differences. We recommend applying for an advance ruling before any high-value import.
